Back to the beginning of the story Adventures with the Mojave Phone Booth book now available
These photos are from a trip to Willcox about ten years ago. I thought these slowly rotating figures (are they old A&W mascots?) were eerie in the 1 a.m. headlights. I didn't think they'd still exist.
But I was happy to be proved wrong. They're well-cared for, too. They've received a fresh coat of clothing and the papa has swapped his hot dog for a frosty mug.
Carter's used to be an A&W, but I wasn't sure what the T on the chest stood for until Lazlo Nibble clued me in: it's a T for Teenburger.
