Home Adventures with the Mojave Phone Booth book now available
Some things are worth being overcharged for. (Even more so when Max is picking up the tab.) The attraction of these "gummies" is not the taste, nor even the aftertaste (which is considerable), but the descriptions on the packages.

Some months ago Deuce of Clubs pal Ultima had alerted us to the existence of "the beautiful prose on the front of the packaging for Kasugai Super Juicy Muscat Gummies:

"Its translucent color so alluring and taste and aroma so gentle and mellow offer admiring feelings of a graceful lady. Enjoy soft and juicy Kasugai Muscat Gummy."
And here we were, confronted with many flavors of Kasugai Gummies, each with its own lovingly bizarre description:
Apple Gummy:
"Every drop of fresh apple juice, carefully pressed from the reddest apples, shining in colors of the cheeks of a snow-country child, is yours to enjoy in each soft and juicy Kasugai Apple Gummy."
Pineapple Gummy:
"The gorgeous test of fully ripened pineapple imposing as a southern island king crowned in glory, is yours to enjoy in every soft and juicy Kasugai Pineapple Gummy."
Strawberry Gummy:
"Kasugai's strawberry gummy, made from fresh strawberry juice, is a very delicious gummy. Please have a fun time with this strawberry gummy."
Melon Gummy:
"Kasugai's Melon Gummy is a very juicy candy, made with musk melon juice. Enjoy its exquisite melon taste."

Mmmmmmm....! Musk!
