Cream Team 2: Art Car Weekend 98
Autographed copies of Adventures with the Mojave Phone Booth are now available!
It's only after you have a bunch of different mechanics analyze the same problem that you begin to see automotive repair as more of an art than a science. (Makes one wonder about doctors. Second opinion? How about sixth or seventh?)
Freddie tested the oil pressure and the oil pump. Everything okay there. He believes the cam may be worn enough to hinder its contact with the distributor gear. He also thinks the vacuum advance assembly is too far down the shaft and moves it up, so the distributor blade can go down all the way into the slot. He also ground the clamp, so it would tighten better, and used the new bolt (the old one snapped the night before) that I'd got (after hours) from the owner of the NAPA auto parts store. God willing, that's fixed it. I sure hope so. Freddie assures me that his repair will get me back home.
